EU launches anti-dumping investigation against Chinese| 06.07.2010
The European Union (EU) began an antidumping investigation against Chinese manufacturers of 3G modems. In particular, the suspicions relate to Huawei Technologies and ZTE. In the framework of the case appear
imported to Europe modems in China, a market worth us $4 billion.
This fact could prompt the European mobile operators and telecommunications companies to withdraw their orders from the Chinese and pass the Taiwanese manufacturers to reduce procurement risks.
Recently the main suppliers of wireless cards for the European market was Option, Sierra Wireless and Novatel Wireless. The situation changed dramatically after the Telecom
companies such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica and O2, began to give orders to Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE. Latest in record time occupied by different estimations, from 70% to 80%
the European market for wireless 3G modems. It affected the Belgian company Option has initiated this investigation.
Potential manufacturers of 3G modems for Telecom operators in Europe in the future may become Taiwan’s Asustek Computer, Quanta Computer, Inventec, Qisda and BandRich.
