I have had both viewers, although without missing the truth G2 only for a day because I returned them.
G2 look spectacularly good, without any discussion better than Quest 2 no matter how much you upload the bitrate. At least that’s my personal experience. Why did I return them? Basically because there are titles among which I tried myself, where the mapping of the buttons did not correspond to what you had to use in the game itself. Accustomed to Oculus where everything goes like silk in what is simple to use, I did not like that at all even if there are users of the community offering their own configurations to go well the controls.
I started with WMR and then jumped to Oculus with Quest 1 and Rift S, and later also with Quest 2. Coming as you come from Oculus, I think WMR is going to give you some headache when it comes to accessibility. On the other hand its home or environment is far from what Oculus offers, and you will have to open it yes or yes to use the viewer every time.
Tracking without being bad is clearly below Quest 2. Anyway for me the big problem with all WMR viewers is how sensitive tracking is to luminosity. I tell you that I had a Samsung Odyssey a long time, but since I went to Oculus for minimal light that she go absolutely perfect tracking. WMR unfortunately is not the same, as you do not have the right light conditions the tracking starts to do its thing.
In my personal experience, not all that has glowed has been gold in Quest 2. The viewer as Standalone is fable but of course do not expect graphics from a powerful game designed for PCVR. The connection via usb to the PC did not go well. I had 2 Oculus Quest 2 and in both cases continuous problems of sound cuts, and constant disconnections of the cable being perfectly placed both in the viewfinder and in the computer. With Rift S I go all fable, so my computer problem is not. In addition I have read more cases with the same problem and they could not solve it, I tried everything and in the end I ended up getting tired and catching mania.
I am waiting for what they announce next Thursday by Oculus, but hopefully improve the issue of connection via PC for Quest Pro or 3 either via cable or wi-fi.
I hope I helped you.
