Berlin “GeoGuessr” is a game for Android and iOS (and also in the browser) that combines detective skills with travel experience, other knowledge, speed and sometimes a good portion of luck. Because: Using an excerpt from Google Street View, players have to find out where the picture was taken – and preferably faster than the seven opponents. Most fun with “real” opponents This can be quite hectic, but above all quite addictive. There are two game modes: single player with no time limit or multiplay. Here you can either guess the country or – more exciting – even the specific point on Earth where a picture was taken. The closer to it, the more points there are. In the end, whoever is left wins. Over time, you develop your own strategies and look, for example, at the position of the sun, recognize country-specific differences in road signs or simply get a feel for the look of a country. German recordings can usually be recognized quite reliably by the many hidden houses. By the way, you can see countless exciting places in the world from the perspective of a street view car. “GeoGuessr” has been around since 2013 and has around 30 million players worldwide. In addition to the free edition with a limited number of games per day, there are two subscription models.
