Bonn Because even if, for example, the name and logo of a well-known institution adorn a website, there may be fake pages of scammers behind it.
Fake pages with DGE logo
This is shown by a recent example: The German Nutrition Society (DGE) is aware of fake pages that are modeled on its own website and look strikingly real. With one difference: the fake pages do not overflow www.dge.de but about other URLS that have nothing to do with the DGE.
Through these fake Internet sites, scammers distribute medicines or dietary supplements. They, for example, praise a means of alleged fat reduction.
The DGE warns against participating in raffles, placing orders or entering personal data on such sites. In no case should consumers pay money. True, the institution is trying to do something about the fake sites. However, since the fraudsters are hiding behind letterbox companies, the procedure is more difficult.
Fakeshop-Finder and Police
If you are unsure, you can check online shops and websites: To do this, you have to enter the web address in the Fakeshop finder of the Verbraucherzentrale NRW, i.e. simply in the specified check window at www.fakeshop-finder.copy nrw. The tool is free.
In addition, you should report to the police if you have come across such a site or have already fallen for the scammers.
