Berlin The magazine has reviewed both free and paid programs. The test winners are “1Password” for 38 euros and “Dashlane” for 53 euros – the cheapest password manager with the grade “good” is “Bitwarden” for around 9 euros. Security: Kaspersky product has not been tested
Among other things, the product testers checked which requirements the programs place on the master password and how secure the user accounts and passwords are. In the same way, the installation and setup as well as the instructions for use and daily use were included in the evaluation. Equally important are the data transmission procedure, the import and export of passwords and the terms of use.
The tester’s tip: A password manager can be worthwhile – regardless of whether it is the more expensive providers or cheaper alternatives.
By the way, the software of the Russian concern Kaspersky has not been tested. In its explanatory statement, the magazine refers to a warning from the Federal Office for Information Security that Kaspersky’s anti-virus software could possibly be exploited politically and thus customers could be put at risk.
