For the product testers in this context, good sound does not only mean good music and voice reproduction. Film effects and compressed streams via Bluetooth must also be convincingly implemented.
Sound is not everything
In the test, only eight soundbars (bar shape for lying down or for wall mounting) and soundplates (box shape for placing the TV on it) achieved this. Only seven devices achieved the overall rating of “Good”, because in addition to the sound, handling and power consumption were also included in the rating.
The test winner for the one-piece devices was the 995 Euro expensive soundplate “Nupro AS-3500” from the manufacturer Nubert (overall grade 1.9), followed by the 700 Euro expensive soundplate “nuBoxx AS-425 max” (overall grade 2.0) from the same company, which was also the cheapest “good” one-piece in the test. “Best sound and high sound pressure with little power” is the conclusion to the Nubert soundplates.
Soundbars with bassbox
In the two-piece, meaning soundbars with a separate bass box, the 950 Euro expensive “DSP11RA” from LG made it to the top (overall score 2.0). And also the cheapest good (overall grade 2.1) two-piece device comes from the Koreans: LG’s “DSP8YA” is already available for 475 euros.
From a purely sound point of view, Samsung’s two-piece “HW-Q950A” (Klang 1,6) for 1050 euros and “HW-Q900A” (Klang 1,7) performed best. However, due to their high power consumption, they only achieved the overall scores of 2.6 and 2.1, respectively.
