Google is testing the display of domain names in address bar is URLСергей Dragun | 13.08.2020
This should help prevent fraud and phishing.
The function will be tested in the upcoming release of Chrome 86. Google hopes that this change will help protect users from fraud and phishing attacks by using misleading
misleading URLS.
Domain names and URLS are one of the main forms of web security, which allows users quickly know what site they are on. However, they can be used for
misrepresentation. Hackers and scammers often create fake websites that look plausible. They use URL misspellings (twittter.com),
subdomains(yourbank.sign-in.info), or domains with hyphens (secure-gmail.com). Unsuspecting users go to this URL and give your details to the scammers.
The Safari browser shows in the address bar, only the domain name. This mapping looks clearer and makes it easier to identify fraudulent websites. If you are used to see facebook.com in the address
line and at some point, the browser will suddenly display a facebook.com.money.biz.scam.inc is alerted to the user.
Google says that the new feature will be shown a random subset of users in the version of Chrome 86. The company wants to make sure that this change will help users understand that they
visits a malicious website and protect them against phishing and attacks with social engineering. If this indeed be so, in the future this feature will become permanent.
