Creating a webshop is a cheap way to start a B2C business. You do not have to go in and find rooms, pay deposits, spend money on furnishing etc. A webshop can be incredibly cheap in start-up, if you just spend some time on research. Most webshop systems like WordPress m. WooCommerce or Shopify is almost an out-of-the-box solution where you can start creating products right away. Before you start to jump into the webshop world you must have clarified the following:
– Which system/CMS should I choose?
– Which payment gateway should I choose?
– What do you want me to sell?
– Who am I selling to?
– Where should i market my webshop?
Selection of CMS
CMS stands for” Content Management System”, and deals with the construction of a website where you can manage the content on it. There are an incredible number of webshop systems out there, and the most popular is WordPress m. WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento and Prestashop. Most startups usually choose WordPress or WooCommerce, as they are relatively easy to get started with, and cover all basic features, and more. Magento and Prestashop require a lot of know-how and setup work before the solution is ready for use.
All webshop systems have their for and against, therefore you must do your research, and assess what you need now, and what you need in the long term. F.ex. Shopify Shopify is a hosted solution, that is, Shopify handles hosting and updating for you, if you expect to have your current solution for a long time, and you don’t want to use a programmer to update your system for you. If, on the other hand, you have technical skills, and want the opportunity to develop, it could be very cool with a WordPress or Magento solution as you host them yourself, and thus have access to your sourcecode.

– Price per person. month
– Transaction fees ,
– Possibility of subscription payment ;
– Integrations to your online store CMS
It is not all gateways that can be interconnected with all webshop systems, but the most popular gateways, of course, have integration options for all popular webshop systems.
Target audience for your online store
Your target audience is the segmentation of people you market your products against. It can f.ex. be you choose to market against women aged 20-25 years who are interested in make-up.
It is important that you have a specific target audience, to be able to hit them in the best possible way and most effectively.
