The Doom port based on the popular GZDoom has just been updated and is already compatible with the Oculus SDK 0.4.4, adding support for absolute positioning on the DK2. It is compatible with Doom, Heretic and Hexen.
This port, in addition to Oculus Rift, is compatible with home viewers, as you can see in this video of our colleague RescueGamer in which he plays the popular mod Brutal Doom, which adds an extra gore that never hurts a title like this. Be careful those of you who get dizzy easily, you already know that classics like Doom are very fast and frantic games and could knock you out in a matter of seconds.
As we have mentioned before, GZ3Doom also allows you to play Doom 2, Heretic and Hexen, games that delighted many of us in the 90s, where we already dreamed of enjoying them someday in virtual reality. It took 20 years for that dream to come true. You can download GZ3Doom at this link. To activate the Oculus Rift mode, simply open the game console (accessible from the menus) and type vr_mode 8, and if you have a homemade viewfinder, you can try modes 4 (side by side) and 5 (narrow side by side). You have more information on the GZ3Doom website.
