Harmonix found a real gold mine with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, titles that created a new genre during the last generation of consoles by allowing us to be part of a music group using simple plastic instruments. And now they announce that they are preparing Harmonic Music VR for Samsung Gear VR.
This is what the press release says, which is all we have for the moment:
“Harmonix Music VR” will transport you to a fully immersive landscape guided by music that will allow you to experience the songs like you have never done before. It uses the proprietary Music Analysis Engine technology to create a sequence of high-resolution events specific to each theme that will react to the elements of your virtual world. Get comfortable and relax, participating in the vibrant musical environment, or explore new visualizations using your own audio tracks.
“Harmonix has always been interested in creating new ways for people to interact with music,” says CEO Steve Janiak. “There is enormous potential in virtual reality, and ‘Harmonix Music VR’ with Gear VR is a tool that allows us to provide these kinds of innovative experiences. We can’t wait to find out what people think about this new way of experiencing the music they love so much.”
So, Harmonix Music VR will be a Samsung Gear VR launch title later this year.
