As every beginning of the year, there are changes in inflation and fees, which in turn causes changes in the costs of some government procedures. This 2024 is no exception. That’s why we already know the new costs that fines are going to have in Mexico City this year.
After UMA increase, fare hike
A few hours ago, the INEGI revealed that as of next February 1, the UMA value will go from 103.74 to 108.57 MXN, nationwide. As you know, the Unit of Measurement and Updating (UMA) is the economic reference in pesos to determine the amount of the payment of the obligations and assumptions provided for in the federal laws of the federal entities, as well as in the legal provisions emanating from all the previous ones. Basically, having increased the UMA, the costs of the procedures increase.
Taking the increase in the AMU, this will be the new costs of traffic fines, at least in Mexico City, from the 1st. of February. You can check all this information in the traffic regulations of the CDMX.
