Hi girls, how are you? Lately I’ve been getting a lot of questions from my blog fanpage about how to go to a wedding in summer either on the beach, in the countryside or in the city; what color to use, if it has to be long, short, what fabrics to choose with this hot weather and of course where to get it according to our pockets. In this post I will explain everything you need to know to go impeccable and regal to that wedding in summer.

1. Long or short?
The length of the dress depends on two factors:
– Schedule of the ceremony (and party): If the marriage is daytime, it is convenient to use short dresses, above the knee, knee-length or calf-length. What do we mean by “day”?, when the ceremony starts before 3pm, because if it starts at 4pm, for example, the party will be at night and you will be able to wear one more dress for that time. If the ceremony and the party are afternoon-evening, the long ones are the best option for their elegance. You can see how I went to my best friend’s wedding that started at 4 pm here.
– Formality of the event. Even if the wedding is at night, perhaps it is a small ceremony, followed suddenly by a civil wedding… In that case, if the marriage is small and casual, you can also opt for a short dress. On the contrary, if the ceremony is formal and not so small, feel free to explore the most elegant styles.

2. What colors do I wear in the summer?
In summer, as we have already seen in other posts, the colors are the warm ones; however, this is not a rule and you can use a more winter color with an asymmetrical cut and large and vibrantly colored accessories and, thus, give a summery twist to your look. The idea is also that the dress you use will serve you on more than one occasion.
However, I do not want to forget to mention the colors that are most fashionable right now for this season. Thus, the Pantone Summer 2017 tells us that these are the colors of the season: yellow, pastel pink, beige, pastel light blue, fuchsia, coral red, lapis lazuli, sky blue, parrot green, orange or peach.

3. Are there forbidden colors?
White is not resounding, and be careful with colors very similar to white such as nude, beige or bone, since now many brides do not wear white Ñapancha, but go just with derivatives of these. It is better that from the darkest beige, pulling for chocolate you start to see colors. Finally, black can be used, you are not going to be in mourning at all or you are going to give bad luck to the bride. And black is always in fashion and it suits us all very well.

4. Prints?
Totally yes. Summer-spring is the season of prints, so don’t feel short of looking for one with flowers, polka dots or some large or small abstract figure, it will depend on your personality and taste. The prints are also used in summer, beware, do not think that it is only for winter.

5. Rhinestones, sequins and glitters in summer?
Yes, but if the wedding is daytime, do not abuse the glitters, one like the model on the left is ideal since it has only some parts with the applications. If the wedding is at night, you could use the most ornate rhinestones or use chiffon embroidered with rhinestones like I used at my best friend’s wedding (photo below).

6. What kind of fabric suits me best?
The designer of party dresses María Ximena Rabac explains to us that “in summer chiffon, tulle, silk and light lace such as chantilly lace are used a lot”. Add that as many marriages in summer are celebrated on the beach, opt for this type of fabrics, but if you want the dress to serve you for the winter season, look for ones with print or rhinestones, so you can use them in winter for any other event.

7. Where do I get my dress?
– Buy. There are many stores to buy evening and party dresses, I don’t want to close to tell you 1 or 2, but I recommend these three brands: María Ximena Vestidos, Krashnamur and Deluxe. Another option is to walk through specific shopping centers where there are many evening dress stores such as Caminos del Inca, Jesús María and Gamarra.
– Rent. It is an excellent option if you know that you will never wear the dress again. Where? Well, in Lima there are already several rental stores, my favorite by far is Dress to Go, whose price ranges between 100 and 130 soles. The price includes the laundry, delivery to indicated areas in lima and also includes the cleaning arrangements if necessary.
– Send it to be done. It is a very option, cheaper, but they have to take into account two things: the seamstress is not Dona Karaan or Sarah Jessica Parker, that is, she probably has general notions of fashion, so you have to tell her well what you want, go to Pinterest and print styles that you want to copy and adapt it to your style. The other important point that you should consider is the time, if you want to send it to be done, you must do it two weeks in advance.

8. Accessories at the order of the sun
The accessories for a summer wedding have to be very sober, unless the event is not very informal, like a hippie, bohemian wedding, there you could use something like the photo on the left. On the contrary, if the wedding to which you have been invited is like almost all, formal, the accessories should be simple:
– No big watches
– Not costume jewelry
– No big rings

9. Sunglasses
Don’t leave yourself at home. Good sunglasses can dress as much as a clutch or shoes, and you will need them if the ceremony is outdoors in the daytime. Choose ones with a metallic frame if you are wearing a printed dress or with a very showy color, or tortoiseshell with a ‘retro’ frame if you want to add a touch of color.

10. Shoes? Beware of sand and grass!
Whether the wedding is on the beach or in a garden, the bride and groom have already decided for you: say goodbye definitely to heels if you don’t want to spend the day sinking into the sand or grass. Opt for sandals with platforms or wedge heel.

11. Liquid makeup, no thanks.
Just as for brides waterproof makeup is nothing less than mandatory, for summer guests liquid makeup is practically forbidden, in order to avoid spending the day touching up foundations, shadows and eyeliner in the sink. Bet from the first hour on the powder and long-lasting makeup, that withstands all the hours that you are going to spend standing or walking under the sun from one place to another, while you settle in the Church, waiting for the bride and groom to leave or having a cocktail during the reception.
Well girls, I hope this post has served you completely and that you can go regal, impeccable and fresh to that summer wedding. I want to mention and thank the Peruvian brand of dresses for the wedding guests María Ximena Dresses for the photos, the information and the good vibes. Visit her page, she has spectacular models.
