Virtual reality is primarily a one-person hobby. Two people cannot share a headset. Unless several people with their own headsets are playing a game that supports multiplayer, there aren’t many social things that happen with a VR headset like the Quest 2.

The only exception to that is the Casting function. Allows you to connect your Quest 2 to a browser or mobile device. Here’s how to stream what you see in VR to your phone so someone else can see what you’re watching!

Advice – this feature only allows you to send content to one phone – yours. It must be on the same Wi-Fi connection as the headset and must be paired with the phone before attempting to stream it.

There are two ways to start streaming to your phone.

How to connect your Quest 2 to a browser – Mobile

First of all, you need to open the Oculus app on your phone and make sure that it is paired with your headphones and that both devices are on the same network. To activate a stream, you need to tap on the option in the upper right corner that displays the headset logo with a small Wi-Fi symbol attached.

Select the symbol in the upper right corner.

When you do, you will be taken to a screen where you will have the option to select the headphones with which you want to connect. Most likely, you will only have one anyway, but if you have several, choose the one you want. Make sure it’s connected and tap the Home button at the bottom.

Wait for the red indicator here to turn green (which will make the Start button selectable). Once you have connected, tap the Home button.

The connection will take a few seconds to establish. Still, you will be able to see what the virtual reality viewer is watching, as well as listen to the audio that the player gets. You won’t be able to interact with anything, it’s just a video stream.

Launch it on Oculus Quest 2

The second option to start a broadcast on the mobile is to do it from the headset. As with the first option, both the phone and Quest 2 must be paired and connected in the Oculus app before you can do this – once you’ve made sure that’s the case, just put on the headphones and hand the phone to whoever. he wants to look at you and start your Quest.

Use the Share option (the second icon on the right in the menu bar) to get your sharing options. You will have several different options, such as filming, taking screenshots, or streaming to another device. Select Stream to open the stream menu.

Open the Share menu, then select Stream.

In the streaming menu, you will see a list of devices to which you can stream. Select “Oculus App,” then click Next to start streaming to the Oculus app on your paired phone.

The sharing option on the mobile device is a great way to let your partner, child or friend see what you are doing, for example, if you are competing in BeatSaber or a similar game but you only have one headset, then let the other person Observe what is happening is a great way to prevent both parties from getting bored!

Have you tried the share to mobile feature? Do you prefer it to the browser cast? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
