Vive Cosmos, which comes after the previously registered Vive Eclipse, could represent the new generation of the company.
HTC registered last Thursday (November 15) in the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union (EUIPO) the name Live Cosmos, a new brand related to virtual reality products, as shown in the accompanying description.
HMD to simulated reality of computer; computer hardware; software simulated reality of computer software; software of game of simulated reality of computer; hand controllers for use in the environment of simulated reality of computer; optical devices, namely, parts of eyepieces for HMDs; cases and holders for HMDs; smartphones; portable computers; portable electronic devices in connection with an HMD for use in environments of simulated reality of a computer, sensors for motion tracking; cameras; lenses; hand controllers of simulated reality by computer; computer peripherals for mobile devices for remote access and transmission of data; apparatus for recording, transmission or reproduction of sound, images or data; instruments and components of electronic communications and optical; gamepads and controllers for use in the reality simulated by computer.
The description is quite similar to the one contained in Vive Eclipse, as well as that of HTC Vive, although we do not know if both Eclipse and Cosmos will actually translate into any product related to the Vive ecosystem. Last year the registration of Vive Focus took place when we already knew that the company was working on a standalone, but this time the only clues we have about that possible new viewer are the news of Tobii and the prototype of Valve, although this device could be only from the latter company.
If this new product is real and comes next year, CES 2019 (from 8 to 12 January) could be a good time for its announcement, just as it happened with Vive Pro.
