At the gates of the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona next week coinciding with the GDC, Huawei Vice President Bob Cai says that virtual reality will be one of the great technological transformations of the next 5 years.
Bob Cai has given a conference at the Dorchester Hotel in London to present the strategy of the Chinese company whose smartphones are opening more and more space in the Western market. In it, they have revealed the intention to implement support for the 4.5G technology called LTE-M, an improvement on the current LTE that multiplies by 100 the number of connections per phone with respect to it, reaching 100,000. Bob hopes that this new speed will help bring virtual reality everywhere, waiting for the arrival of the real successor, 5G technology, which will not begin trials until 2018.
For Bob, in the next 5 years there will be several great transformations in the world, including the connection of mobile with the internet of things, the proliferation of drones, smart metering (telecontrollers that collect information on energy use) and, of course, virtual reality.
