The nVidia drivers have incorporated an option to adjust the pre-rendered frames for quite some time. It has recently been renamed, renamed or reused to adjust the number of frames to be pre-rendered in virtual reality, and according to one of the Oculus programmers, the default value of this option can negatively affect performance and latency, and he recommends changing it in the global values.
Dammit nVidia who thought this was a good idea to turn on by default? pic.twitter.com/9d6Lmvpvrn

@AntonHand it should be up to the rendering application. Overrides like this are never good.

The Oculus recommendation is, therefore, to set it to the default settings of the 3D application instead of forcing it to 1, as it comes when installing the driver (in previous versions the default value was 3/4, which improved performance but harmed latency). Some people comment that they do not notice any difference, while others claim that the judder is reduced and improves performance, for example in Alien Isolation. We think it’s worth taking a look and checking it out for ourselves, don’t you think?
