Pin Mirrors are micro-mirrors that are applied on the same lens to reflect the projection to our eyes, offering a superior FOV to current methods.

PinMR is a new technology designed for augmented reality viewers that comes from South Korea from the hand of the company LetinAR, which has recently obtained a series A funding for a total of 3.6 million dollars. 5 companies participated in the round, including Daum Kakao and Naver. The company claims that its system offers superior results than conventional wave guidance and light refraction or diffraction.

“We have developed PinMR technology, a new way to overcome the technical barriers that have long existed in the AR industry. The LetinAR PinMR optical solution has a much higher performance than its current counterparts. We believe that the PinMR lens will fundamentally change the way people communicate in the short term, ” says Jaehyeok Kim, CEO of LetinAR.

The lenses have small mirrors in the center the size of a pinhead, and allow light to be reflected to our eyes without being perceptible, thus achieving a representation of the image that would not lose color, would offer a FOV 66% higher than usual and a greater depth of field that would help improve the focus.

LetinAR plans to distribute a set of lenses together with the microdisplay of a future business partner, which would facilitate in the future its installation in a new generation of smart glasses with a lighter form factor.
