To many the name of Masashiro Sakurai will not sound too much, but if we talk about Super Smash Bros things change a lot. The director of this popular saga has written a column in Famitsu magazine in which he shows his enthusiasm for virtual reality and the possibilities it will offer to the world of digital entertainment.
Sakurai has an Oculus Rift DK2 with which he has tested a lot of demos. He is really excited about the possibilities stating that “It’s really fun. Mind-blowing! Everything comes to life in the game world. The feeling is very different if we compare it with the games of a lifetime.” However, he recognizes that there are still obstacles to overcome and states that experiences designed to get the most out of these devices are needed, in his opinion if the developers limit themselves to enabling a virtual reality mode in the same old experiences, it will not end up succeeding.
