Acer sell your visor Acer VR along with their drivers, in a single package available from Christmas for $ 399.
The package that will arrive this Christmas will only cost $ 399200 less than Oculus Rift. It will include two controllers with six degrees of freedom like the Oculus Touch or the Wands of the HTC Vive, but only while in the viewfinder cameras field of view from Acer. Later, they say they will add a new sensor technology that will increase the tracking of controls beyond those limits, even when behind the head or behind the back.
Remember that the Acer viewfinder has inside-out positioning by cameras, without the need for external systems for tracking, as does HoloLens.
Possible visor hits? The Acer system will use LCD screens, not OLED. Likewise, we will have to see how easy it will be to update the controls with the new sensor technology and when it will be available, since, for the moment, when a control departs from the field of view of the cameras, it will only be tracked through its inertial measurement unit (IMU) with less precision, although it will be improved by reverse kinematics technology.
Each company that manufactures Windows VR viewers is free to add or not its own controls, so we can get different types of Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and 3Glasses.
