The mod that adds virtual reality to Alien: Isolation now has the possibility to use VR controllers instead of a gamepad among other updates.
We can already find on GitHub version 0.8.0 of MotherVR for Alien: Isolation. This modification that allows us to enjoy the horror game published by SEGA in VR, has been updated with several improvements.
Support for motion controllers: now we can play exclusively using the vive controls or Touch, it even displays button representations in on-screen messages in the game. To see the button mapping we must access Choice– >MotherVR– >Entry– >View– >Controls. Although this does not mean that we have virtual hands, it will require the use of gestures for some options due to the shortage of buttons, in the case of Vive in particular, for example, for the flashlight we will now have to bring the controller against our forehead for activation.
Mirror: shows in the monitor window what we are seeing through the viewer. We can configure several aspects of this function through the options.
Internal options: an improvement in the MotherVR options menu will allow us to make changes in the configuration without leaving the game.
For Oculus: automatically detects the audio device without needing to change it manually.
For SteamVR: videos and home loading screens are displayed in VR.
Nibre also communicates its intention to continue improving the support of motion controllers to offer displacement and pointing relative to them, in addition to the behavior of the camera in locomotion to avoid discomfort before releasing the final version, which he hopes to have ready soon (at the end of the year in open source).
