The sale of virtual reality viewers grew by 38% during the first half of this year.
Superdata has shared some data from virtual and augmented reality viewer submissions of the second quarter of 2018, where the 289,000 units of Oculus Go that would have managed to boost sales growth of RV HMDs by 38% during this first half of the year, since the rest of devices would have reduced shipments by 50%, they indicate. The reasons for this decrease indicate that they are due, at least in part, to the lack of important titles announced or on the way in the short term.
“Oculus GO is part of an important movement for RX,” he says Mr. LiuhuabingSuperData’s RX director. “Facebook sold more standalone viewer units in its launch quarter than Oculus Rift in the entire first half of 2017. Their price and convenience are proving to be selling strengths, but it’s up to them to create engaging content that keeps users engaged again and again.”
On the other hand, augmented reality with mobile phones continues to grow at a good pace thanks to Pokémon Go, which received support from ARKit last year. Apple’s platform increased the number of supported apps by 13% in the first quarter, although the number of monthly active users fell by 11%. The estimated income of the RA for the end of the year is $ 1.5 billion.
