Oculus has just announced the Mobile VR Jam, an application and experience design contest for Gear VR. In 2013 he already organized a similar event for the DK1, from which some of the best-known titles such as Dreadhalls, Darknet or Sightline emerged.
On this occasion, Oculus seeks to promote the development of experiences for mobile devices, specifically the Gear VR that it has co-developed together with Samsung. The event starts on April 13 and there is nothing less than 1 million dollars in prizes, which will be distributed in two categories: games and experiences. Those interested can point in this direction, but it is limited to certain countries among which, unfortunately, Spain is not. In fact, Mexico is the only Spanish-speaking country that we see in the list, in which several European countries such as France, Germany or the United Kingdom appear in addition to others from the Asian continent. A shame, since our compatriot Sergio Hidalgo was one of the winners of the VR Jam for DK1 with the famous Dreadhalls that, by the way, is also available on Gear VR. In any case, we hope that interesting creations will emerge that will give Gear VR a good boost, which at the moment has a small number of experiences.
Participants will have until May 14 to submit their experiences, and the winners will be announced in June. The projects will be sent in several phases: first a description, then screenshots, then a video of the application in operation and, finally, the final version in APK format. The contest judges will be announced later.
