Update 32.0 for Oculus Quest is coming out this week. What innovations does it bring?
The monthly update is being released for Quest users in stages from August 23. As usual, the release of the update for all Quest users may take up to a week or a little more.
You can check the current Oculus Quest firmware version in Settings > Info. If the update is ready for installation, the option will appear in the same window. However, manual installation is not required, since Oculus Quest updates are usually installed automatically as soon as they become available.
Oculus Move: Fitness Tracker has become more flexible
For the Oculus Move fitness tracker, introduced in Update 23.0, you can now set weekly rather than daily goals, which should make VR training more flexible. The calendar has been adjusted accordingly, and now it reflects your condition on a weekly basis.
The recommendations for calorie intake and the number of minutes of exercise, which are now set below so as not to overload beginners, coincide. Depending on your results, the app suggests setting higher goals later.
If you want to show off your VR training, you can now share the relevant statistics via Facebook (chronicle, messenger and groups).
Messenger
Oculus friends and Facebook friends are no longer displayed separately in Messenger, but rather as parts of the same list. Facebook Facebook friends still can’t see their personal Facebook profile or track their Facebook activity unless they become Facebook friends.
The new chat settings allow users to display information about the chat, exit the chat, see the list of chat participants and change its title.
Distributing VR apps has become easier
Now applications can be distributed in virtual reality itself without the Oculus smartphone app.
Go to the store, find the app you want to give away, and activate the menu with three dots. Here you should be able to buy an app for friends.
Media data: easy synchronization with your smartphone
The file manager introduced with Update 29.0 has an extremely useful feature: Quest users can now sync recorded screenshots and videos with the Oculus smartphone app and thus have easier access to user content. Then, screenshots and videos can be uploaded, edited and published on your smartphone.
To activate syncing, you need to open the file app and activate the cloud icon (see the video below). Alternatively, you can sync only individual files. The individual steps are described on the Oculus support page.
After that, you can find your media files in the Oculus smartphone app under “Devices”> “Synchronized Media”. The corresponding files are automatically deleted from the Oculus smartphone app after two weeks.

Update 32.0 also provides smoother animation of some actions in multitasking mode. Multitasking can be activated in the section “Experimental functions” > “Multitasking”.
Application permissions can now be easily edited and updated thanks to the on / off buttons. Most notifications are now interactive and allow Quest users to respond to them with certain actions.
You can find the full text of the update in In the Oculus release notes.
