The most recent update of the Oculus virtual reality helmet will allow a direct connection to cell phones to be able to more easily pass files between both devices, as the portal announced The Verge.
As part of the update v32, several novelties were integrated into the Oculus Quest 2 that facilitate the possibility of doing various activities without having to constantly change devices. One of these was that of power transfer images and videos captured using the virtual reality helmet, because until now the only way to be able to pass this type of information was by manually connecting the device to a PC.
The new update allows the automatic synchronization of photos and videos between the virtual reality set and the Oculus application for Android and iOS, this will allow transferring the data in a much easier way. In addition, a much better detail when it comes to being able to do this process is that it will not even be necessary to have the helmet on to make the transfer, so that the data can be managed at any time it is needed.
On the other hand, the update also integrates other functions to the helmet that were previously only possible outside of it. One such activity was the possibility of gifting apps and games, because before it was necessary to put aside the virtual reality set to use the Oculus app or through a web browser to be able to buy and send the chosen one as a gift, now everything can be done even in the middle of a game session if you want.
Another rather interesting detail has been the integration of users registered as friends through the Oculus Quest to the contact list of Facebook Messenger inside the app for virtual reality. This change would allow users to contact with virtual friends directly from the messaging app as if they were any other contact as in real life.
Of course, those virtual reality contacts will not be able to know the activity of users on Facebook, only the change was made to make it easier and faster communication. In order for the contacts in question to be able to know more pertinent information about the presence of users on the social network, as in a traditional case, they will first have to become friends on Facebook as such.
This update brought a wide variety of changes to the platform ranging from greater stability in processes with cell phones such as those mentioned above, to improvements in the exercise program integrated into the Oculus Quest.
Several of these novelties are probably being made in preparation for a more coherent and intuitive interface that is ready to receive users who are interested in virtual reality after Mark Zuckerberg himself revealed his plans on the “Metaverse”, a virtual social environment that they hope can become a new common interaction space in the years to come.
