This platform allows creators to work and add interactivity in a native virtual reality environment and provides a complete set of tools to streamline post-production processes.
Pixvana today announced the full release of SPIN Studio, the only end-to-end VR platform, for editing, creating and distributing high-quality VR video content. With this platform, VR creators can easily create interactive stories using practical tools that work with natural gestures and actions, all from within the viewer. In addition, creators gain access to some of the fastest tools in the industry to streamline processes, from camera upload, to image editing and distribution.
“We are bringing to market the first full suite of cloud-based virtual reality tools, with the ability to create and edit in a virtual environment, making it easier than ever to create immersive virtual reality experiences,” said Forest Key, co-founder and CEO of Pixvana. “With this release, we’ve completely reinvented the way people create interactive stories, and we’ve done it to help them discover the real potential of virtual reality media. Both expert creators and beginners can make VR video experiences and interact with audiences in more powerful ways – events, presentations, classrooms, tours, and more.”
Creators use natural gestures and actions to place media and develop experiences in a WYSIWYG interface. From within the viewer, you can sequence linear stories from our virtual reality playlist, connect scenes in branched timelines for more complex stories, add interactive points to guide the user’s gaze, incorporate key point actions (reference image in the gaze, jump to new scenes, activate 3D audio effects), add graphic overlays and logos.
Pixvana is also launching its new stitcher as part of SPIN Studio, allowing creators to convert multiple video files into an immersive experience, with just a few clicks. Unlike most stitchers, SPIN Studio renders at 8K+ resolution in the cloud. The entire process is completed in about half the time it takes for a high-performance desktop application.
“8K is the future. With this comes incredible benefits, but the large volume of data still poses challenges, ” said Jason Paul, general manager of Gaming Software and Virtual Reality at NVIDIA. “With NVIDIA’s VRWorks 360 SDK, the SPIN Studio solution for rendering 8K in the cloud simplifies the workflow, making 8K more accessible to many content creators.”
In addition to state-of-the-art authoring and editing tools, SPIN Studio also provides VR Casting for easy sharing. With the simple “pair and share” feature or sending a key, creators can securely send their content to viewers around the world, via streaming or download, without the need for coding.
SPIN Studio is compatible with Oculus Go and Rift, Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream and HTC Vive.
