Bad news for those of us waiting for the arrival of PrioVR, the multi-sensor motion capture system that promised its launch at the beginning of summer. After a couple of subsequent delays, we receive confirmation via Kickstarter that the delivery will finally take place at the beginning of 2015.
Unfortunately it is the tonic of many hardware projects launched through crowdfunding platforms, starting with the Oculus Rift itself and continuing with Virtuix Omni, Sixense STEM, Delta Six and now the one we are dealing with. It is obvious that it is not easy to give an adequate forecast about the launch date, but it is still frustrating for the buyer. According to PrioVR, the design and manufacture of the suit that will carry the sensors, as well as the new control knobs, are to blame for this new delay, although as it could not be otherwise, they assure that it will be worth it and that we will be delighted with the quality of the final product.
On the other hand, they confirm that they are going to launch a device for tracking hands and fingers that will work with the rest of the PrioVR system and will offer it as an upgrade. However, they are now totally focused on PrioVR and at the moment they cannot give any more information about it. The same goes for Samsung Gear VR, which they find very interesting and are already investigating it, but at the moment their goal is to deliver PrioVR to backers.
