The unofficial port of the classic shooter adds in its latest update locomotion 6dof thanks to ARCore, and support for the motion controller of the Samsung viewer.
Reddit user DrBeef continues to update his conversion of Quake for viewfinder GearVR. This time, thanks to new technology Arcane, allows the mobile camera to obtain the data of the absolute positioning of the environment without the use of external sensors, which together with the support added to the motion controls, allows us to move freely through the game scenarios.
It’s a long-awaited change that finally eliminates the previous aiming mode, which used our view to move the camera. In addition, it incorporates other improvements such as being able to change weapons by turning the knob on the horizontal axis or the option to activate the exterior view through the camera by pressing the button on the side of the viewfinder.
It can be downloaded through the developer’s GitHub, and requires integration with our Oculus Signature (OSIG) and an ARCore-compatible device. According to him, the port could work in Oculus Go, although he has not been able to test it.
