New features for Gear VR that allow us to share more things in Rooms or stream everything we play to Facebook.
Oculus has launched Rooms and Parties for Gear VR last year, offering new social features with which to interact with our friends. This time there is a new update for Rooms, the event of Oculus, and the ability to perform streaming to Facebook of what we play. The new Rooms update 1.2 adds more free content for group viewing and the possibility of watching 360º video, such as the short Invasion! from Baobab Studios. Those people who do not join to watch the spherical video will be able to see from the outside what is happening, as the following image illustrates.
The search in Rooms will also be easier to perform, if we speak English at the moment, since we will be able to use our voice in order to find any content to be played. The Oculus events, focused at the moment on people who speak English, are a new way to interact with others to hold tournaments, talks or play a particular game together. From the Home we will be able to see featured events and the complete list, as well as sign up for those that interest us so that a reminder will arrive later.
Finally, the possibility of streaming to Facebook from Gear VR is starting to be available now and will reach everyone in the coming weeks. The option can be activated from the menu when we are in virtual reality. The possibility of using our voice to navigate the menus or perform searches, both in Rift and in Gear VR, is already available in English, and although it has not been indicated if the option will reach more languages, it would be the most logical option in the future.
