The Russian segment of the Internet celebrates its birthday. 18 years ago was launched the first Russian domain zone .EN
Since then, the Internet has become one of the ten largest TLDs in the world with more than 3.7 million registered names. The Cyrillic part of the web – area .RF – has approximately 800 thousand domain
names.
According to the project “Domains of Russia”, today domain .EN ranked fourth among all national Internet segments around the world. Domains ahead of Germany, UK and
The Netherlands. In 2011 alone absolute increase of domain names in the zone .EN 484 million (15.5 percent), and in day there are nearly 3.5 thousand new domains.
According to the coordination center of national domain of the Internet domain .EN has a still relatively low penetration – 25 domain names .EN per 1000 inhabitants.
