The US technology giant Google faces another fine in Russia. The Alphabet subsidiary has repeatedly failed to delete prohibited content, the state Communications Regulator Roskomnadzor said on Wednesday.
This included “misleading information” on Google’s YouTube video platform about the war in Ukraine. The fine could amount to five to ten percent of Google’s sales in Russia.
Facebook Instagram and Twitter have been restricted by Russia since the invasion of Ukraine – Google and YouTube are still available for the most part. The Russian government has imposed several fines on foreign technology companies in recent years for a number of violations.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The group’s Russian subsidiary filed for bankruptcy on Friday.
