From April 20, developers will have the possibility to confirm that their applications work on an SD card and users with S7 and S8 to make better use of the internal space.
The commercial version of Gear VR it was initially launched for Samsung Galaxy S6 phones that did not have an SD card, but the arrival of the S7 and the new S8 terminals bring a slot as standard to be able to have more storage. Oculus, in view of the above, has announced the arrival of the support SD card for Gear VR. Which will allow us to select where to install our applications, either in the internal storage of the device (the only option for S6 owners) or on an SD card to avoid running out of internal space.
Developers now have the option to indicate if their application supports the new installation option and for this they have to follow a simple process by which they verify that it works correctly on an SD memory card. According to Oculus, using this storage alternative will not significantly affect performance, so users will be able to benefit from its advantages without any problem. In fact, Oculus recommends that all applications take advantage of this new feature.
From the 20 April, all developers will be able to indicate that their application supports SD in the application submission process. Users will see a new icon on the store page of the corresponding application. Once the application is installed, we can move it by accessing settings > applications > application manager > select the application, storage, change and choose the SD card.
