Thursday, December 17, the company “sky link” has announced that it held a tender to select equipment suppliers for the construction of GSM networks in 45 regions of the Russian Federation and will use the equipment of two
manufacturers – Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei equipment to Alcatel-Lucent will be used in the Central and southern Federal districts of the Russian Federation; the Huawei equipment will be used in the North-West,
The Siberian and Volga Federal districts of the Russian Federation.
“Supplied equipment to ensure the simultaneous use of different technologies, e.g., GSM/LTE, – said Gulnara hasyanova, CEO of “sky link”. In 2010
it is planned to start providing GSM service. In the future, the company is ready to build in the 1800 MHz band LTE network, if the regulator decision will be made about the use of the principle
“technological neutrality”, and may proceed with the organization of pilot zones LTE immediately.”
