The creators of the StarVR viewer are preparing a big announcement for next week and it could be a new viewer, who knows if this time aimed at the consumer public and not only for arcades.
Almost 3 years ago we had the opportunity to test a prototype of StarVR at the Immersed Europe event, and we must recognize that those 210º of FoV and the resolution of 5120×1440 of that device are not easily forgotten, despite the performance of the graphics cards that were at that time. In the end, its creators decided to take the route of the arcades and the device did not become available to end consumers, but the early (we hope) arrival of Pimax on the market could lead to the launch of a new viewer by StarVR, and perhaps (although this is pure speculation) this time they decide to try their luck with the domestic market.
This is everything they have shared so far, the silhouette of a viewer, the SIGGRAPH event and a date: August 14, at which time we will clear our doubts about an announcement of what is probably a new virtual reality viewer, although we will have to see what specifications it has and who it is aimed at. In a few days we’ll be out of doubt.
