With the latest update you can dive into new environments, resize any panel, view the most played titles, and reuse resources when creating maps.
Valve has released a new update for the About SteamVR, which adds several new maps, a new system of resource packs for the maps and a series of improvements for the panels of our virtual environment.
The first of the maps is a lair for super villains in which we can unlock an interactive turret of Team Fortress 2, and the rest are three new versions of the standard Summit Pavilion environment, which offer more space, a waterfall and a campfire. Thanks to the new system of resource packs, creators can share and reuse elements such as models, textures, particles and more that are inside the packs, not being necessary for users to download those packages that we already had. All the maps they have introduced have packages that we can use to create new environments.
“This place has everything an aspiring evil genius needs. Laboratories, tunnels, lizards, electric fences, motivational posters and chairs! Search carefully and you’ll unlock a Team Fortress 2 collectible interactive minicentinel turret-you may need a friend to help you explore this huge, partially underground complex, ” they comment on the villain’s lair map.
The main community dashboard now shows more games in each category, sorts them by number of players, and includes a new category of free apps, which is a way to get to know the most popular titles on the platform. Along with this improvement, there is also the possibility to grab the interface panels from anywhere (not just the corner) and to adjust their size, just as we do with any object in the environment.
