The Hollywood producer and distributor, with films such as Looper or Iron Man 3, makes the leap to the new medium with Arcturus, the first company incubated by the initiative.
DMG Entertainment, the Hollywood studio co-founded by Dan Mintz, has announced the official release of DMG VR, a unit dedicated to pushing the boundaries of narrative by breaking new ground with virtual reality. Arcturus, the first company incubated under the umbrella of DMG VR, will focus on the development of interactive narrative experiences and new generation technologies across all virtual reality platforms. The Arcturus team is led by Ewan Johnson, former director of the Pixar and Dreamworks production teams; Devin Horsman, a Forbes 30 under 30 class of 2016 in gaming; and Andy Stack, one of the pioneers of content and product for 360 and virtual reality technology on YouTube.
“Virtual reality offers us new ways to experience stories and express creativity,” said Mintz. “We partnered with a team of pioneering leaders in this fast-growing industry to push the boundaries and create mind-blowing VR experiences. We are developing advanced technologies to push VR storytelling to new levels and combine it with original content, in addition to our world-class IPs.”
DMG VR will focus on financing, acquiring and partnering with premier entities that can succeed in the U.S. and around the world.
