The virtual reality film festival that will take place on February 24 and 25 in Barcelona, has announced the 4 members who will form the jury in charge of evaluating all the short films presented.
The Movistar Barcelona 360 Virtual Reality Fest it celebrates its first edition at the Arts Santa Mónica in Barcelona on February 24 and 25, 2017 in order to reward the quality and innovation of the national and international virtual reality short films presented, and will be structured in several areas: official section, special sessions, showroom, conferences and round tables. The members of the jury will be Fernando Carrión, Marisol López, Fernando Rascón and Sergio Ochoa.
Fernando Carrión, producer and creative consultant with more than 20 years of experience creating and producing audiovisual content for films, television series, advertisements, multiplatform games and interactive media for companies and studios in the sector internationally. His academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Fine Arts in Spain and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Animation at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. For the last few years he has been working in game production (Activision/Blizzard/King), and coordinating Transmedia Storytelling projects and workshops. He is currently exploring the potential of virtual reality technologies in entertainment, education and social change, also the great power of creative storytelling and games as an engine to create a better world.
Marisol López, cultural manager specializing in digital culture. He currently heads the Direction of the Digital Culture area at the Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies (ICEC). Its main objective is to create links between culture and technology, work with digital companies in the field of video games and application developers, and help cultural sectors that make digital change. To get people from different professional backgrounds and different lines of thought to create together and enrich each other.
Fernando Rascón, director of Movistar Artsy. He began his training in Administration and Sociology, although he dedicated his last years of study to Photography. After dedicating himself to this as a freelancer for a few years, he joined the Movistar Marketing team in Catalonia to manage Movistar Artsy, a platform that promotes cultural entrepreneurship in Catalonia.
Sergio Ochoa, CEO of SGO. Sergio’s interests are related to research and the creation of new technologies, which has given him great knowledge about the development process of an audiovisual product. His career started as a developer of application and graphical interface software. He then combined his technical expertise with artistic creation and became a CGI artist and VFX supervisor. Throughout his career he has founded different companies in FX and VFX, which were quickly absorbed by large companies in the sector. After several years he changed branches to dedicate himself to creative and artistic direction for advertising campaigns. But later he returned to the film industry as a VFX supervisor and DI expert. He currently works as CEO in the French office of SGO, a company dedicated to the development of software solutions in the post-production market.
