Lotus always cares about the design, utility and comfort of its vehicles, which is why it always subjects them to the most exhaustive tests. In this sense, its most recent star, the electric Emeya, has just passed a series of tests that took it to the most extreme climates in the world.

The toughest electric Lotus

By means of a press release, Lotus confirmed the successful completion of the Lotus Emeya electric hyper-GT in a rigorous series of tests in various global environments and final development. During the winter, the car was in Ivalo, Finland, where the brand’s engineers concluded their validation work by subjecting it to extremely low temperatures, reaching up to -40 °C in a local automotive freezing chamber.

This process represents the culmination of a three-year test and development program, carried out in 15 countries on two continents, with the support of Lotus global engineering teams. The tests were carried out in various terrains and conditions, from the demanding British roads to the fast German motorways, passing through the Alps and the remote region of Inner Mongolia. In addition, tests were carried out on race circuits such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife and on test fields such as the high-speed loop near Nardò, Italy.

During the tests in extremely cold environments, Lotus engineers focused on evaluating chassis systems, tires, driver assistance and the usability of the battery in adverse weather conditions, among other aspects. The aim was to ensure that the Emeya is an electric grand tourer that offers optimal performance all year round and in any weather conditions.

In addition to the tests in the Arctic, the Emeya also faced extremely hot weather conditions, with temperatures up to 40 degrees °C, in the same environments. Additional tests will be carried out in markets such as the Middle East, the United States and Australia before deliveries to these locations.

Lotus mentioned the importance of maintaining the essence of a true Lotus even in the era of electric vehicles, focusing on keeping driving exciting and safe. For this reason, he highlighted his commitment to quality and customer experience, ensuring that the Emeya retains the distinctive features of the brand while adapting to new technologies.
