Xbox One has not yet been officially released in Denmark (maybe you have been one of the lucky ones who managed to get your hands on the European edition?) and a lot of Xbox fans all over Denmark are waiting in excitement for when the console will be released. No official release date has yet been set, but rumors say 1. quarter of 2014. The Xbox One has got something of a make-over. It has become much more elegant, Kinect now comes with as standard and of course new, powerful hardware has been added under the helmet. But since a real gamer probably more or less does not care about the appearance of the console, and is more interested in what games the new Xbox can actually play, that’s what we take a closer look at here. Below, Mikkel from PlayOne gives you an overview of 3 of the most anticipated games for Xbox One.
Forza Motorsport 5: Do you have gasoline in your blood?

There are few games that show the powers of Xbox One as well as Forza Motorsport 5. Anyone with just a bit of interest in car racing, has definitely played one of the games in the Forza series (Forza goes all the way back to the first Xbox) and been impressed by the incredible level of detail. Here you can see everything from wear on the tires, smoke from the exhaust, a live audience and photo-realistic surroundings-details that together form the framework for today’s most realistic car racing. When you saw races against your friends Forza will simultaneously analyze and learn about your driving style. By knowing exactly how you and your friends play, you will be put against other drivers who remind you – so you can get a fight to the line every time. Forza 5 also promises the most wide selection of cars ever seen in this car series. You can therefore choose everything from older, classic cars to a brand new Lamborghini.
Ryse: Son of Rome: Roman carnage a la film ‘ 300’
From the creators of the incredibly popular, and thumping great, game ”Crysis” Comes Now Ryse. Ryse is built up (and looks like) as a movie you can even be allowed to play and is in addition an exclusive release for Xbox One. So when all your Playstation 4 friends come by, they can only look gaping when you dazzle Ryse. In this Roman action bloodbath, the emphasis is on big, epic scenarios where enemies must be killed by thousands (and yes, the game is reminiscent of ’300 ‘ despite the historical difference). In the game you control the Roman general Marius Titus, who you get to follow from his very young years as ignorant kid to experienced Roman general. The game also makes use of Kinect, where the player must shout commands and guide his legion through the various missions and it is therefore your task as a player, to keep an overview in stressful situations. Ryse has received great praise for his visual expression (the graphics and motion-capture should work incredibly well), but the Battle part itself should become a bit monotonous. But either way, at least download the demo of it and try it out!
Tom Clancy’s the division: strategic action game that requires brain!
Tom Clancy is a personal favorite and most gamers have probably sooner or later come across a game from Tom Clancy’s universe including Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell. Now it’s the turn of the Division. In this new game for Xbox One, a deadly disease has erupted, which more or less puts the big city of New York in a state of emergency. That’s why “the Division” is called in. These are some secret agents that you get the pleasure of steering around. The Division is not nearly as much hack-and-slash as Ryse and instead focus has been placed on the individual player’s development. The world that you will therefore play in is an online RPG universe where there is a focus on exploration and with thousands of combinations of different equipment and weapons, you can shape your very unique player from the ground up.
Other interesting games which did not reach the list
Choosing the most interesting games for Xbox One is of course a matter of taste and it has been quite a challenge. Xbox One offers a lot of exciting games and if you are not into car racing or war games, then there is still a lot to come for, just look at the list below:
- Fifa 14: Hardly needs the big introduction. But this dominant football game has Of course also found its way to Xbox One and surely it, once again, turns out to be the best football game?
- Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag: This time, Assassin’s Creed has jumped into the pirate outfit and must now throw himself from ship to ship while avoiding being hit by cannonballs. It’s gonna be fun!
- Titanfall: Call of Duty meets Transformers – epic?!
- Watch Dogs: Reminiscent of GTA, probably not so politically incorrect, where with the help of your phone you can hack into people’s phones, surveillance cameras, City electricity to complete your missions.
So whether you have gasoline in your blood, the urge to finish off thousands of soldiers, or want to save New York, Xbox One gives you the opportunity to do all of this. It will be exciting to keep up with how Xbox One will make use of ”cloud gaming” and how the games will make use of the now-mandatory Kinect, enhanced controller and powerful hardware. One thing is for sure and that is that 2014 will be the year of gamers!
