As notified by Oculus in an email to its users, from today this function becomes exclusive to GearVR and Go.
The next-generation VR pioneer company continues its restructuring with another controversial move. Today, the American owners of a Rift they were surprised to receive an email notifying them that they could no longer purchase movies on demand through the app Oculus Video, leaving this function intended for users of the Go and GearVR viewers, which do seem to make significant use of this feature.
Over the years we’ve been seeing how VR is used for everything. And it is clear that, although everyone enjoys streaming multimedia content, the main use given to Rift is to play. This perception is what dictates the support we can offer for both new and existing features,” Oculus says in the email sent.
Users who have contracted content can enjoy them until November 20, date on which will proceed to the refund and the complete cessation of the service for desktop viewers. They also remind us that we can still use Facebook 360, or the rest of Oculus Video functions to enjoy this type of products.
