It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Kickstarter project that caught our attention as much as The Realm System. It is a device that sends the information of our effort to video games and traditional experiences or based on virtual reality.
The load of the muscles when brandishing a sword, the weight in our arms when carrying a rifle, the explosion of energy when throwing a punch… Realm transforms them into a physical experience. Realm’s inertial measurement units (IMUs) precisely follow the movements of the hand and body, accurately measuring their position, speed and direction. Combined with endurance and using a unique algorithm, Realm’s patented system provides us with incredibly accurate biometric information such as strength and calories burned. There is no possibility of cheating with Realm, since it measures the complete movement of our muscles and informs us exactly how hard our effort is.
Together with a virtual reality equipment, it can add a new level of realism to users’ experiences, and allows players to see and feel their hands and body, opening up a whole world of possibilities.
The Realm System development kit includes six experiences that allow us to enjoy the device from day one, including topics as varied as zombies, tennis, boxing and even cutting logs. Whatever our tastes, there are no excuses not to get in shape, and since we are going to spend some time slaughtering zombies, why not make our health benefit from it?
The device costs about $199 and we will receive the device in September this year, as long as the target of $160,000 AUD is reached. The campaign ends on March 21.
