Although it is currently possible to play The Vanishing of Ethan Carter on Oculus Rift thanks to Vireio and VorpX, Adrian Chmielarz, creative director of The Astronauts, confirms that the game will have a native version for virtual reality.
@fenderf4i @_LarZen_ @oculus Ethan is being re-made in UE4. Worry not 🙂

@BSanbizzle @fenderf4i @_LarZen_ @oculus Not exclusively but that is one of the reasons, yes.

The reason is none other than the readaptation that is being made of the game under Unreal Engine 4. Although Adrian states that this change of engine is not done exclusively for virtual reality, he does recognize that it is one of the reasons for it. And we think the arrival on PS4 could be another reason.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a horror game created by the indie studio The Astronauts. It is currently available on Windows, and it will arrive this year on PS4. The player gets into the shoes of Paul Prospero, a detective with paranormal abilities who receives a letter from Ethan Carter, a boy with the ability to perceive the supernatural. After the letter, Paul arrives in Red Creek Valley, the place of residence of Ethan, who has disappeared, and embarks on a terrifying adventure to explore the place and discover its dark secrets. It is possible that its adaptation to virtual reality coincides with the launch of the first commercial devices, since although Adrian has specifically talked about Oculus Rift, with Unreal Engine 4 its operation on HTC Vive would be practically automatic.
