Oculus has sent a campaign update with some new features, the most striking being the possibility that they will show something new during E3 in six weeks.
It could be a new prototype, closer to the CV1, maybe some kind of announcement or maybe even both (of course there is no left, right?). The fact is that, at the end of the announcement, they drop that there are 6 weeks left until E3 2015, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on, we hope to see you at the show!
On the other hand, they announce their collaboration with OTOY for the organization of the Render the Metaverse contest, which through the Octane engine that we talked about last month, we will be able to create 3D and 360º panoramas and we will be able to win more than $ 75,000 in prizes, although it remains to be seen if it will be limited to certain countries as has happened with the Mobile VR Jam. In any case, those interested can take a look at the details on the OTOY website.
Oculus also announced the hiring of Mary Lou Jepsen, responsible for Google’s One Laptop Per Child program and moonshot projects, as well as Anna Sweet, who has led various hardware and software programs at Valve. The trickle of hires continues, therefore, to prepare the way for the commercial version of the Rift, which we want to know something about in six weeks.
