San Francisco Deutsche Telekom’s US mobile subsidiary, T-Mobile, has become the world’s most valuable telecommunications company. It has overtaken US rivals Verizon and AT&T in stock market valuation. At the same time, it has also left competitors from China behind. This is the result of a Handelsblatt analysis of data from the Bloomberg financial agency.
T-Mobile reached a market capitalization of 179 billion euros on Tuesday. The US rival Verizon, on the other hand, was 175 billion euros. The Chinese competitor China Mobile followed in third place in the ranking of the globally most valuable telecommunications companies with a valuation of 145 billion euros.
This is a surprising comeback story. For a long time, the US business was considered a problem for Deutsche Telekom, which several chief executives worked on in the past. Traditionally, German companies have found it difficult to compete at the top in business with US consumers.
