Based on the latest optional Steam survey, we can get an idea of the quantities of each viewer.
Valve he has shared in a talk belonging to Melbourne Games Week the data about the active users of his platform Steam, something that RoadToVR has used to estimate the number of users of each viewer based on the results of the last optional Steam survey for the month of September.
List of data they shared about Steam:
- 47 million active users daily.
- 90 million active users per month.
- 18.5 million peak concurrent users.
- 1.6 million new buyers per month.
Taking the 90 million active users per month and starting from the fact that in principle 0.72% of these users have connected a viewer and have participated in the survey, the following table of results emerges.
Oculus Rift | 306.000 |
HTC Vive | 274.000 |
Windows Mixed Reality | 47.000 |
HTC One | 13.000 |
Oculus Rift DK2 | 7.000 |
Total | 647.000 |
Considering that it is an optional survey, there is likely to be an even greater number of viewers for each brand, in fact, the numbers are quite far from the estimates of most analysts (even if it is only Steam). Despite this and although last month there was a slight reduction, generally in recent months we have been contemplating how the total value of users with connected viewer has been growing.
Valve shared in July that there had been a 160% increase over the previous year in the number of VR users that are active monthly on the platform, although we do not know that data.
