Sony has announced that the new update for PS4, which includes improvements such as Boost Mode for PS4Pro or 3D Blu-ray playback on PSVR, arrives tomorrow, Thursday.
Sony prepare the release of PS4 version 4.50, known as Sasuke, for tomorrow, Thursday. Among the most prominent changes are the support for USB 3.0 external hard drives, the boost mode that increases the performance of games not optimized for PS4Pro, and the possibility of watching 3D Blu-ray with PSVR. Regarding virtual reality, from now on when we are playing and we return to the home screen, we will see an improvement in terms of the resolution of the social screen (TV), in case we use one. The resolution of the cinematic mode will also improve, going up from 90 to 120Hz if we have the screen configured in small or medium size.
The new Boost mode improves those games that do not yet have an update for PlayStation 4 Pro, managing to increase the frame rate or get a more stable one in those that have been prepared to work at 60Hz, and even get shorter loading times. To take advantage of this mode we will have to activate it in the system options that we will find in the console settings menu. You can find more information about the new features in the official Sony post.
This new version will include support for Aim Controller, the new peripheral that will arrive on May 17 along with the Farpoint game, and will also incorporate improvements in absolute positioning, as confirmed by Impulse Gear to RoadToVR at the recent GDC. Any improvement in tracking will be welcome as it is one of the weakest features of Sony’s virtual reality solution.
