There are few experiences as intense as living a concert of our favorite artist up close. But when that’s not possible, virtual reality can help us emulate that feeling.
The REVOLT music network has partnered with Jaunt VR to record a series of concerts in virtual reality. Some will be recorded in studio and others will be concerts in public places. The image will be in 360º and in 3D, while the audio will be processed by 3D microphones and remixed in Dolby Atmos format, to further increase the feeling of realism. At the moment a concert by Sean Michael Anderson, better known as Big Sean, has already been recorded, which will be available very soon for Google Cardboard and Oculus Rift (we assume that also for Gear VR, as happened with a Paul McCartney song recorded by Jaunt herself).
Similar to video game creators, artists also have a great opportunity to become pioneers of virtual reality if they already start preparing experiences that could be very lucrative for them when more devices become available. When we can not attend in person, who will want to watch a concert on a television being able to live it as if we were there?
