Two weeks ago, the creator of VorpX announced that the next version of this program that allows you to play games that do not support virtual reality on Oculus Rift would bring important changes, and said version is now available.
Like all versions of VorpX, the download is done automatically when we start the program. In addition to the three major improvements we mentioned ten days ago (3D engine with renderers for Direct3D 9, 10 and 11, Virtual Cinema mode and Ambient Scene mode, both with delayed lighting), version 0.8 of VorpX includes 38 new 3D profiles for games, including Dragon Age Inquisition, Battlefield Hardline and Dark Souls 2. You need to upgrade to Oculus runtime 0.5.1 to use this new version of VorpX.
Another of the most important improvements is the optimization of Geometry mode, which improves performance by 25% in CPU-limited games such as Skyrim. And something that has caught our attention is an automatic mode to jump and crouch, similar to the one implemented by Vireio but with a difference: in VorpX it is not necessary to physically stand up or crouch, but it is enough to make a quick movement with our head up or down to cause the movement, so we can play sitting down. You can see the full list of changes below, in the comments of this news.
