What part of the internet do you fit into?
The big, bad internet that takes over our everyday lives from we get up until we go to bed is filled with all sorts of good and not so good stuff that people have put out there. We crave and search for things that interest us. We want everything to be adapted to our interests. It is not something a search engine can know in advance, so Google and other search engines do everything they can to customize their searches for what we have searched for before.
If you are the type who likes art and applied art, then Google will make sure that you are presented with all the things that have to do with this. It is often things that are tagged with the keywords you have used. But Google is also getting a little smarter, because it can gradually figure out what Applied Art is. So if you like online handicrafts, then you probably also like ceramics, interior and knickknacks for the home.
But after all, there are many types of Applied Arts. There is everything that is sold by many different stores and then there is what is more unique. Unique applied art is one of the most sought after, as it shows one’s taste and personality. If you find your niche on the web where you fit in, then you are presented with something that resembles and can thus expand your taste. However, it is limited how expanded it will be, as you will not see the parallel world of applied art that Google has assessed that you have no interest in.
There are therefore both advantages and disadvantages of the smart search function in Google. You never know where you end up when you search on Google. Sometimes one can start by searching for Windows and end up being presented to Windows. Yet it is there that most seek inspiration for everything from online art to their next destination.
