For many years, Boston Dynamics was practically the only company that seriously set out to make a robot or an android. Not so long ago, Tesla and Xiaomi also decided to enter this market, and today Xiaomi presented CyberOne, its own functional model.
At a Xiaomi event held a few hours ago, the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, formally introduced CyberOne, a humanoid robot that was able to walk to the stage, exchange a few words with the executive and even give him a rose, just like the one he brought in his presentation trailer. The android also took the opportunity to show his basic kung fu techniques and even take a selfie. In the end, he said goodbye to everyone and left the stage completely autonomously.
According to Xiaomi, CyberOne is capable of performing a lot of activities, such as detecting up to 50 human emotions according to pitch and inflection; 85 types of environmental sounds; detecting 3D spaces; and recognizing people, gestures and expressions. All these functions are integrated into the processing units of CyberOne, which are combined with a curved OLED module to display interactive information in real time.
The promise is that in the future, CyberOne will help humans in all kinds of activities, from manufacturing to caring for people and much more that we have only seen in movies so far. It must be remembered that Xiaomi already has some experience in this field, because not so long ago it presented CyberDog, a quadruped robot that can be used in the field of security.
