ZVR Apocalypse arrives on Kickstarter, a frenetic action game designed for virtual reality in which we will have to put an end to the zombies that plague humanity in the last days of a war that already seems lost. The creator of Lunar Flight radically changes the environment to bring to life what, according to his words, is a mix between Gears of War and Dead Nation with the most visceral action we have ever seen.
Of course the presentation video is more than striking, and it seems that the graphic aspect of ZVR is going to be above what is usually seen in many indie developments, including Lunar Flight itself. It strikes us that the game combines the first and third person perspectives in virtual reality, but of course what this game is crying out for is a cooperative mode, but it seems that they are only going to add it as the last stretch goal. These are the features of ZVR:
-
- Virtual Mobile Tablet. This mobile device will be our main interface in the game to access the menus, choose missions, buy upgrades, view the story elements, check our progress and much more.
-
- Turrets in the first person. We will be able to operate heavy machine guns and other powerful turrets in the first person with a virtual body that moves depending on our head. To aim, it is enough to look at our target and our virtual body will point the machine gun in that direction.
-
- Shooting and coverage. The player can take cover from the Hypers to achieve a stable defensive position and be able to return fire with greater accuracy.
-
- Exploration in the third person. The third-person camera system is designed to provide a comfortable way to move around the environment in VR. We will have full control to explore the rich environments at our whim.
-
- Vision-based goals. When we are not covering ourselves, the vision-based targeting system reduces the complexity of aiming in the third person. By looking at the enemy and pressing the fix button, the player will be able to keep looking around while still shooting at the enemy, increasing their situational awareness. But be careful, since this mode is less accurate and we may want to look for coverage in the end.
-
- Z.I.F (Zombie In Face). One of the most intense moments of the game, the Z.I.F moment occurs when a zombie gets too close and grabs us. We will have to react quickly to repel their attack, or we will go on to swell the ranks of the army of undead Hypers.
-
- Plunder the desert. Exploring the ruins will be vital to get hold of valuable materials that are in great demand. We will have to collect them and sell them at the market. But be very careful not to die there, there are no ‘Extra Lives’ when we are under Contract.
-
- Collectible. Hidden around the stages are ‘Missing Persons’ posters from the Undead Memories Kickstarter rewards. Collecting these posters will give us additional riches.
-
- Waiting room in the helicopter. Between different Contracts, we will meet on board our personal Razor helicopter, where we can use our virtual tablet or inspect our growing arsenal of weapons (more features coming soon).
-
- Weapon upgrades. By accessing the market or the virtual tablet, we will be able to buy weapon upgrades, ammunition and other special objects.
-
- Online leaderboards. The contracts will be graded by score and time, which encourages us to play them again to compete with the rest of the players.
We have until September 28 to support the Kickstarter campaign from $ 20 AUD (about € 14 and includes a copy of Lunar Flight as a gift), although there are other more expensive tiers if we want to appear as missing people or get physical rewards, you have all the information on the Kickstarter page. The game will be finished in May 2015, although shortly after the end of the campaign they will send us the demo-prototype used in the game videos. We can also download from now a technological demo in which we can see the dismemberment technology of the game, on Windows and Mac.
